Monte Aloia is located in the River Miño valley, with Tui and Valença at your feet and with the Camino de Santiago surrounding it.

At its summit the footprint of man has been marked indelibly in different ways. On one of its slopes is located the hilltop fort known as Alto dos Cubos, of great size and importance of which only a part has been excavated. In its surroundings there are also petroglyphs, which tell us about the occupation of these lands since time immemorial.

” Tui is one of the seven capitals of the ancient kingdom of Galicia “

At the summit of the mountain there is a cyclopean wall, it surrounds the entire summit and is a real mystery to be discovered, an exciting visit that is well worth a trip. It is said that this is the mythical Monte Medulio, scene of the collective suicide of the Celtic tribes before falling into the hands of the Romans. The Aloia is a mountain full of legends.

Its Cathedral, whose contruction commenced in the 12th century, shows a fortified aspect that makes it unique. It has enough attractions to dedicate a visit, and then get entangled in the streets of historical Old Town, the second most important in Galicia, where we will discover houses and churches and where at evry turn we will see impressive views over the river Miño and the Portuguese valley.

In neighbouring Portugal and joined to Tui by an iron bridge is Valença do Minho, a fortified city that keeps its walls in perfect condition, of overwhelming beauty. Tui and Valença joined by the Miño make up a natural and cultural landscape of exception that must be known.

The Portuguese Way of Santiago has its entrance in Galicia at Tui. At the end of it, Santiago de Compostela awaits us as the jewel in the crown of Galician heritage.
